Mrs. Hoori Sadler, a cancer survivor, established
Persian American Cancer Institute, a non-profit
organization in 2006 in an attempt to reduce the
impact of cancer today and eliminate the threat of
cancer tomorrow.
In the Persian culture, cancer is looked upon as a
taboo, a shameful death sentence. The physical
survival of cancer is only part of the battle; there
is also an emotional, torturous, lonely journey that
one usually has to endure. PACI has come to be in
order to not only pave the road to healing, but also
be a reminder that you are not alone and there is life
after cancer. There is love, compassion, hope and
cure that will defeat cancer. Fear and shame do not
exist where there is awareness, knowledge and hope.
